This lesson explains how to answer the part. It is not a timed practice set. Skim a diagram or schedule, read the caption with care, then match a related message to the right cell.
Name the axes in one pass: what the rows are, what the columns are, what a cell contains.
Exceptions, age limits, and 'closed on' notes live here. They decide more items than the grid itself.
Find the constraint the writer cares about, a time, a group, a fee, then stop rereading the whole note.
Pick the cell that satisfies the constraint. Recheck the footnote before you click.
Prompt
Community swim · March Lane 1 | 6:30–8:00 | Adult lengths | 16+ Lane 2 | 8:15–9:45 | Parent-and-tot | under 5 with an adult Note: Lane 1 is closed the first Monday of each month for staff training. Message: "I'd like a quiet lengths swim before work on Monday the 3rd, I'm 34." Question: Which session can the writer attend?
Model
Lane 1 | 6:30–8:00 | Adult lengths | 16+ Note: Lane 1 is closed the first Monday of each month for staff training. Answer: None of the Lane 1 sessions on Monday the 3rd, that date is the first Monday, so Lane 1 is closed. The age fits; the footnote does not.
Why it works
Reading every cell instead of the key, then running out of time on the message.
Matching a word in the message to a similar word in the wrong row.
Ignoring units, closed days, or age limits in the legend.
