What is the CELPIP General test?

CELPIP-General is a Canadian English proficiency test accepted by IRCC for Canadian permanent residence, citizenship and many professional bodies. It has four sections — Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking — and reports your level on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) scale.

How is CELPIP scored?

Each of the four sections is scored on a CLB band from 1 to 12. Listening and Reading are graded from the answer key; Writing and Speaking are graded by certified raters against a detailed rubric (Content, Vocabulary, Readability, Task Fulfillment).

How long is the CELPIP test?

The full test takes about 3 hours in one sitting. Listening is roughly 47–55 minutes, Reading 55–60, Writing 53–60, and Speaking 15–20 — all of which we mirror in our mock exams.
