Checked against Paragon’s FAQ and Policies & Forms on 5 October 2026. Those pages are the source. If the prompt in your CELPIP account disagrees with a summary, follow the account.
Can you cancel a CELPIP test?
Yes. Sign in to your CELPIP account, open Upcoming test, choose Actions, then Cancel test registration. A registration belongs to that date, time and location. You cannot hand the seat to someone else.
| When Paragon receives the request | What happens |
|---|---|
| At least 7 calendar days before the test | The cancellation is granted and Paragon refunds 50% of the registration fee you paid. |
| Fewer than 7 calendar days before the test | The cancellation is still granted. There is no refund. |
The count is calendar days, not business days. If Paragon cancels the sitting, they try to email you and, if you ask, refund the fee or apply it to another sitting. A cancellation for misconduct is different: no refund, and the fee cannot be moved.
Can you reschedule or change the date?
Paragon calls a date change a transfer. You move the same test type (for example CELPIP-General stays CELPIP-General) to another sitting: a different date, time or location. Do it in the account under Upcoming test → Actions → Transfer to a different sitting, at least 7 calendar days before the original date.
Paragon’s FAQ says the first transfer is free and each later transfer is CAD $50, or the equivalent, plus tax. The policies page also has a sentence that says a transfer costs CAD $50 plus tax. Confirm the amount on the screen before you submit. That charge is the one that applies.
Inside seven calendar days, the account transfer is closed. Contact Paragon at +1 778-327-6854 or info@celpip.ca. They can ask for a doctor’s note or proof of bereavement, and they decide whether to allow the move, whether to charge, and whether to refuse it.
How soon can you retake CELPIP?
Retaking is not the same as cancelling. Paragon’s rule is that you may register for no more than one test session within five calendar days. A second registration inside that window can be cancelled by them. There is no published cap on how many times you can take the test after that gap. A plan for the next attempt is in Retaking CELPIP.
A re-evaluation is a review of a test you already sat, not a new date. You can apply in the CELPIP account within six months of the test date, and you pay a fee when you apply. If Writing or Speaking goes up, that fee is refunded. One re-evaluation per component. Listening and Reading are computer-rated, so a review there rarely changes the score. Results take about one to two weeks. The request cannot be cancelled once it is submitted.
How do you pay for the official test?
You pay Paragon when you register on celpip.ca. Test centres do not take registrations, and there is no walk-in signup. Online, Paragon lists Visa, Mastercard and American Express. They do not accept personal cheques. A money order in Canadian dollars, payable to Paragon Testing Enterprises Inc., is for minor registrations in Canada sent by mail. The card statement may show “Paragon Testing Ent”, “PROMETRIC.COM”, or “ccavenue.com/charge”.
Outside Canada, Paragon says it takes payment through Stripe, and through CC Avenue in India. Which wallets and bank methods appear depends on your country and currency. The current list is on their FAQ. celpiptest does not collect the official test fee. Pro on this site is a separate charge, in Canadian dollars, from Account billing.
CELPIP in Australia
The same account, the same seven-day cancel rule and the same payment step apply if you sit the test in Australia. Paragon lists Australian dates on celpip.ca, including Sydney and Melbourne. Centres still do not register you. Paragon also says the Department of Home Affairs accepts CELPIP for some Australian visas. Check the current Home Affairs page before you rely on a score for a visa. This is not an Australia-only FAQ, and it is not a list of centre addresses.
Cancelling practice on celpiptest
Pro is CAD $9 per week or CAD $24 per month. Cancel it under Account → Billing. You keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account returns to the free tier. That is our billing, described in How do I cancel Pro?. It has nothing to do with a 50% Paragon refund.
